Road Safety Assessment of Existing Intersections

Client: Greater Shepparton City Council
We have undertaken a comprehensive safety review program covering numerous high-priority intersections. The program's objective was to systematically identify, analyse, and develop a clear, actionable roadmap for capital investment to reduce road trauma.
♦ Detailed Crash Data Analysis: We undertook a thorough analysis of the last five years of historical crash data for each location, identifying patterns in crash types, severity, and contributing factors to pinpoint the root causes of safety issues.
♦ Application of the Safe System Framework: We conducted on-site assessments applying the Safe System framework, proactively identifying risks related to intersection geometry, sight lines, speed, and provisions for vulnerable road users (pedestrians and cyclists).
♦ Development of Targeted Recommendations: We developed a suite of targeted, evidence-based recommendations for each intersection, ranging from low-cost solutions to long term solutions.

Level 2 Bridge Inspection Program

Client: Greater Shepparton City Council
The program involved undertaking Level 2 bridge inspections across multiple structures within the client’s asset network. This work provides detailed condition information, practical maintenance actions, and reliable reporting to help inform capital renewal programs, and long-term asset planning.
♦ Detailed Condition Inspections: Completed detailed condition inspections of structural elements including decks, girders, abutments, bearings, joints, drainage components and safety barriers.
♦ Defect Identification and Risk Assessment: Identified structural defects, deterioration mechanisms and maintenance risks, with clear recommendations for remedial works, ongoing monitoring and renewal priorities.
♦ Asset Planning Support: Prepared inspection reports to support asset management planning, budgeting and evidence-based prioritisation of maintenance and rehabilitation programs.
♦ Lifecycle Decision-Making: Helped the client strengthen long-term bridge management by providing reliable data to inform risk, serviceability and lifecycle decision-making.

Intersection Performance Modelling using SIDRA

Client: Greater Shepparton City Council
We were engaged to provide specialist modelling and analysis support for a number of key intersections. This enables council to make informed decisions on capital works planning, manage traffic congestion, and assess the impacts of new developments.
♦ Detailed Model Development: We developed a detailed model of the intersection using SIDRA, accurately coding the existing lane geometry, surveyed peak hour traffic volumes, and pedestrian movements.
♦ Multi-Scenario Analysis: We modelled multiple future scenarios to assess the intersection's long-term viability. This included projected background traffic growth.
♦ Performance Analysis and Option Assessment: We analysed key performance indicators for each scenario, including Level of Service (LoS), degree of saturation, average vehicle delay, and 95th percentile queue lengths, and compared the operational performance of upgrade options to provide clear, quantitative evidence for informed and defensible investment decisions.

Major Culvert Design

Client: Greater Shepparton City Council
This project involved the design of a major culvert to support drainage performance, protect surrounding infrastructure, and provide a durable outcome suited to the site context. The design process focused on practical delivery, integration with existing infrastructure, and long-term asset performance.
♦ Design Development: Delivered the design of a major culvert to improve drainage outcomes, protect surrounding infrastructure and support long-term asset performance.
♦ Technical Documentation: Prepared detailed civil and structural design documentation in accordance with relevant engineering standards.
♦ Infrastructure Integration: Coordinated design development to ensure the proposed culvert integrated effectively with existing infrastructure and surrounding road corridor.
♦ Project Outcome: Considered site constraints, maintenance access, constructability and whole-of-life performance to achieve an efficient outcome for the client.
